Finally was able to get another 6970...hooked it up last night and launched battlefield bad company 2, tried to join you guys but of course servers were full lol, anyways was not impressed with the performance, mind you I run at 5040 x 1050 , I swear the increase was minimal..now I never had the game maxed out with the one card but I was getting 60 fps easy... is that expected with maxed out settings ? or is there something in the ccc that I should tweek...I have everything default except for enable crossfire. Last night I was hitting 40-50 fps :( and would dip lower.

I can't imagine bf3 when I get it

thanks
John

I got a single GTX 580 running on stock speeds - I get about 80-100 (depending on map size) in ultra settings everything as high as it can go.

that gives you an Idea of what your looking for. Chivo has 2 460's and he was surprised at how low the performance was on maps with weather (rain, smoke) he had to turn his settings down to get playable performance and even still he complained. It could be something else on his rig bottlenecking.

Your CPU speed - is it quad core +? and is it 4.0ghz?

I imagine you have 4gb+ of ram and your running win 7 64bit and your video drivers are 64 bit drivers.

Many people skip the cpu speed when wanting more frames. seems for a game like BC2 & BF3 if you want better performance you need your cpu clocked at 4.0ghz+ --- imo 5.0 is a tad bit over kill. 4.5 seems to be the sweet spot.

your getting that with three monitors ?

my i7 is clocked to 4.0 and 6 gigs ram.

failed to realize ur resolution - im running one monitor =P

hmmm - do you have good cooling on ur cpu? have you tried going up to 4.5 or 5.0 - cause that should give you atleast 10-20 more fps.

also whats the ram on each of your gpu's

I was told 3gb cards for 3 monitors is key for good performance.

I have 2x6970 in crossfire - CPU 2600K - 8G mem
All the BF3 setting maxout
running between 70-120 fps
CPU doesn't reach 75% usage
2x GPU @ 100%
I use the latest AMD driver...
But only one monitor.....

2 GIGS per card. maybe I just need to accept it for 3 monitor gaming and reduce to med. settings.

Badaaang, do you make any ccc adjustments ? or just default. and how about the fans..i found that the lower gpu gets hot..so now I increase the fan speeds on both to 60 percent. also, do you know what the power setting is for ?

I enable xfire on ccc ONLY (ie disable / uncheck the overclocking)
I use XFX Afterburner to overclock, monitor and control the fans.
It has a nice monitoring display, you can watch GPUs, fans, clocks etc...
BTW I use also the latest CAP for BF3 :

From previous reading, overclocking doesn't make a big difference, 1-2 fps... haven't check it, but tend to beleive it
