Watched a dump truck carrying 24 tons of asphalt overturn in front of me on the way home from work. A guy going about 90-100mph tried to pass me in the middle lane and ended up slamming into the back of the truck. His car rolled through my lane in front of me and off the road and I came to a stop just in front of the truck.

If the asshole slowed down and gave me a second I would have gotten over for him.

:0 Glad you're alright man! That must have been intense to say the least! That whole axle just decided to leave the party..

Wow. Too bad others were put in danger so that a douche could attempt to kill himself through stupidity.

Lesson of the day. NEVER PASS ON THE RIGHT.

Glad your unscathed, that could have turned really nasty, really fast.

Here is the whole album cotton.
There is a couple pictures of the car that hit the truck, I got super lucky my car just had streaks of gray paint all over the hood from debris. If I was driving my dads jeep I most definitely would've rolled it,If I was in my car with its terrible breaks I wouldve gotten hit by the car when it rolled across my lane into the median. My moms minivan probably saved me a trip to the hospital.

Shit: I wouldn't be able to drive again for weeks! Glad you're alright, man!

Aye, very lucky. Can't tell if that Kenworth has saddle tanks in the picture, but either way that is a whole lotta fuel that could have caught fire. Some of the trucks in our fleet can hold ~200g when full. It may take a lot to get diesel to ignite (compared to gasoline) but big-rigs in accidents often end up as fireballs.

On a side note:
That there is a good example of a part of what my company does (Hazmat Emergency Response). Depending on what state your in, they may have sent out crews with drums/shovels and pressure washers to clean that mess up. The highest profile one I have had in California is a UPS truck hauling doubles that had a 275g tote of Sodium Hypochlorite (bleach) that started leaking. Corrosive liquid that is also not very nice on the lungs(CHP, DOT, Caltrans, FD, News crews, etc all on site).

Long way of saying that so much more could have gone bad in this situation, everyone there was really lucky.

Damn, that car looks pretty messed up.

Did the guy that was driving it died?

glad you are okay tasty. My own experience had me thinking about driving for a couple days.

Why was that guy going 100 MPH? Stunt driving?

Glad you still among us... could've been much worse...

I want to say the other asshole deserves what happened... but damn, looks from the pictures he's all jacked up, if even alive. Goes to show you, stupid is as stupid does.

Yeah Fast, I'm pretty sure he just couldn't be bothered to slow down while I was trying to safely pass the dump truck he was without a doubt trying to weave around me but he was going too fast to see there wasn't room between me and the truck. Seeing that truck turn perpendicular to the lane I was in and flip 30 feet in front of me was the scariest part of the experience. The guy survived although he was bleeding pretty badly, he kept trying to climb out and there was glass on everything he touched...

The truck drivers were fine they were glad I saw everything because they weren't sure what even happened. He said he heard a boom and felt 24 tons of asphalt sway to one side.

More than anything I'm glad he didn't have a passenger because it would have been unbelievably gruesome given that the passenger side seat was completely crushed

Holy shit, man. That's scary stuff! Hope you're ok, glad you were not hurt!
