DICE – Massive DLC Plan for Battlefield 3

What one of the commenters said:

"The pass is for online play on a pre-owned game you bleeding idiots! You can still play campaign mode on a pre-owned disk, but to play online you will need to pay. So like everyone else is saying, don't be a cheapskate and by the game when it comes out, and you won't have to bother with an online pass.

Just to make it as clear as day: YOU DO NOT NEED TO PAY TO PLAY ONLINE AFTER ALREADY BUYING THE GAME, YOU ONLY HAVE TO BUY AN ONLINE PASS IF YOUR GAME IS PRE-OWNED. Simple enough English?"

There's a massive problem with CoD in particular and DLC in general: You're splitting your userbase into tiny segments that can only play against each other based on what DLC they've shelled out for. This was a huge problem for a time in BF2, when there were people with just the base game, or the base game with SF, or either of those options with either or both of the booster packs.

DLC works much better in single-player games, until the modding community begins to surpass its quality. Horse armour baby!
