The one thing I noticed about playing the ARMA series was, it wasn't realistic. Making things harder than they are in real life doesn't make it realistic.
In talking about racing simulators, Corvette Racing test driver Tommy Milner said:
"sim racers sometimes focus too much on difficulty as a sign of verisimilitude."
verisimilitude
"the appearance of being true or real."
What a brilliant word. Anyways his sentiment on racing sims is how I feel about Arma. It's great that it has SOME realistic physics and breaks down flight controls to the point of needing a second keyboard. But when stepping onto a ladder is harder than firing up a helicopter... whats realistic?
The next game I will attack is Kerbal Space Program. Yes it also has a nice physics model. It's also probably in the top 5 "games" for space simulation. But it probably holds 10% to real life.
