For those of us that carry

I've had a hard time staying in practice with ammo being expensive and hard to find. I need to get out to the range soon.

I think it's more of a skill you need to keep sharp with a pistol than a long gun.

Stocked up and reloading, about 12k in rounds available.
I have enough components to load maybe another 10k of various rounds including shotgun.

Pft...I can barely keep 1k rounds per caliber I shoot on my shelves.. I've only been shooting once a month since December when all the craziness started. Definitely not ready to "consolidate" calibers like some people are but .45ACP has been rough getting here as well as .357 and .44 mag. (Maybe we should start a thread to share sites that are selling in-stock / sale ammo and reloading components, etc?)

I've not been able to shoot very often here in the People's Republic of NY. I have managed to stock up a touch. I've got about 450 rounds of 7.62 NATO & 180 of .308. On the opposite side of things, I don't have very much .22 either. Only 1800 rounds there. (That's the stuff I really want--but it's really tough to come by. I'll try more Monday & Tuesday.)

Since .308 & .22LR are so tough to find in NY, I think my next rifle will either be a Swiss K31 or an AK-74 variant.

I feel your pain, Bobsama. I am super light on .22WMR, .357 Mag and .45ACP. =( 9mm seems to be easy to get now - over the last couple months I've bought ~1,000 rounds of Blazer Brass FMJ from Palmetto State Armory. I strongly recommend PSA - their shipping is extremely reasonable.

Agreed, but if you suck at ranged marksmanship(fundamentals), you arent going to keep sharp until you get proficient! I find it easier to pick up a handgun and effectively engage targets as opposed to me picking up a rifle 2-3 times a year......Now a LMG, it is hard to get dull if you know how to squeeze the trigger and control your bursts. Hard to miss, no matter how long you go without firing one!

I just got the next round of "well that's fucked up". Shittier Than Dirt won't ship 10-round magazines to NY. Yes, they're still legal here. The thought police can only charge you with a felony if you load 'em with 8 or more rounds. Anyone from out-of-state want to help me out a bit? I need 4 of these: ArmaLite Gen II AR-10 Magazine .308 Win/7.62 NATO 10 Rounds Steel Black Finish 10607001
