so best buy finally called me back with an estimate... my laptop originally cost just a little under 1000 dollars. they fucking want 1700!!! holy fuck. they` said that the motherboard had been fried.. but i didn't have problems with performance or anything. it just wouldn't charge. i didn't fry the motherboard...soo annoyed

Would never take a laptop to best buy for repair.

Now the truth is unless its only the port then the motherboard is probably gonna have to be swapped anyways. All of the charging circuitry for most laptops is on the motherboard. However I'd send that shit back to the OEM if its not terribly old.

Excuse me, did you say they asked $1700 for repair of a laptop?

Because you can buy 3 quite ok brand new ones for that money...

I'm pretty sure when we spoke about this in Team Speak originally you said it was less than a year old. Shouldn't that be replaced under warranty for free?

Standard warranty for laptops is typically 1 year but you shouldn't take it to best buy for repair. Deal with the OEM directly unless of course your trying to file a claim under some extended protection which is just another lol with best buy.

Sad part is a long long time ago they were good. Grandparents had a Acer back in the late mid 90s and back then if they had to repair it 3 times they would replace it for free. Way before geek squad.

I remember they had their pee-pee spanked for bait and switch stuff years ago: basically, you'd find a sale/deal on their website at your computer at home, and show up at the store and the salesperson would pull it up on their computer and show you a different price. "Gosh gee, our system says it's $50 more." Fuck that place.

You can haggle for price at ANY service place, and some retail stores... and most places will just price match if you ask for it, and you aren't a cockfag about it.

i dont understand why they cant just replace that one part so it can charge. i asked them i could just have someone else do it and the guy said that there was no way that motherboard was completely damaged.... but i havent ever so much as dropped it

cockfag??? i havent been rude them or anything. its not like they broke it ya. so cant get mad or upset its just sucks

If Its an ASUS deal with ASUS. If you want I'll hook you up with a tech that can help you file an RMA. I used to deal with an authorized ASUS reseller all the time.

No, I'm just saying - if you're trying to haggle, it helps to be nice :-) . Also fuck Best Buy and everything they stand for.

I will have to say fuck Best Buy, just go to New Egg and get yourself a awesome desktop for like 800$ unless you absolutely need a laptop, even then I am sure you can get better for less.

You don't need a laptop for school. A cell phone works for surfing porn in class;-). Get a desk top for gaming!

I bought a shitty 300 dollar dual core netbook for school. 8 hr battery life and can't play anything better than solitare. So it made sure i concentrated on school. And use the extra funds for a nice desktop

or you can get something from the msi GT 6..dx or 7..dx series like i did.

It is a bitch to haul the power block, but damn, when i click the turbofan button i can get private space, anywhere.
