Anyone going to see it in 70mm?
Just bought tickets for Thursday, Tarantino is going old school and having a 12 min intermission during the movie. Be warned though, tickets cost 18 bucks a pop.

I saw it in 70mm a couple days ago.

Apart from the wider aspect ratio, I couldn't really tell the difference between this an a digital presentation.

Although I have read that not everyone's 70mm showing is the same. Since theaters have steadily moved to digital over the years, there's fewer and fewer trained & experienced film projectionists these days. Staff now at the theaters are trained to basically press play, whereas a film presentation is a whole nother beast by far.

I enjoyed the hell out of the film, and thought it was worth the $20 pricetag. You also get a little booklet about the film, it's about 8x20 and 4 pages long of thick card paper about the film.

I mainly went not because the movie looked good, because for me, it didn't... I went because it might be the last movie in my lifetime that I get to see that was filmed & released on film. Even the color correction was done old school analog style... using chemicals and stuff like that. And this was my last chance to experience a film produced in this faction.

So to the movie itself... I thought it was awesome! I love action movies with tons of action, little to no character development, and lots of explosions and special effects. This movie has none of that but the dialog and writing was done so well that I enjoyed all 3+ hours of it. A hell of a feat for someone who hates westerns and dramas!

Even if you don't like Tarentino, westerns, or dramas... I still recommend spending $20 on the 70mm show. It may be your last chance to see a movie made on this medium for the rest of your life! Plus the movie kicks ass to begin with and they don't give out the plot during the trailers (and a hell of a plot, it has.)
