How can I get moved up on queue?

During peak times when I'm trying to link up with guildies for some matches, I often find the queue 6 deep! Any recommendations?

Members do have the whole VIP system for skipping queue and kicking someone out altogether. Not sure how thats working. First 20 or so patches it didn't work at all and its been in various states of working ever since.

Other than that there is being premium which can but often doesn't do shit for you.
