I just wanted to reach out and say hey to everyone. I am 45, married with two grown kids. I am going to school online to get my MBA and currently have one class left before graduation. I have a couple of hobbies, cycling and honey-do's being the predominant ones. I am currently a recruit, since June 1, and hope to join as a full member.

Hey Sarge! Same story here! Three grown kids, 6 classes left in "computer Technology"! Here's to us older college kids! :D

Wow, one class left...that would drive me bonkers. Are you changing careers after the degree, or is this an enhancement to what you already do? BTW, what kind of bike do you have? I like the carbon fiber one's but nothing beats steel IMO, I've got a steel frame Gios compact and love the way it rides.

Sixer,

I have a Scott CR2, my son has a BF, Felt, (both carbon) and a Cervelo TT bike.

Nice. I didn't know they still made the Scotts; but it's been a while since I looked at one. My wife has a Felt also and those Cervelo TT bikes are just bad ass.

I always wanted to get a Sampson or Serrota, which I guess now I can't since last I heard Serrota was going out of business last year, but those are sweet bikes too. The one time I test rode a Serrota it cost more than the car I had at the time...so sad, but damned if that bike didn't fly and dive into corners with rock solid stability.

Anyway, it sounds like you guys enjoy riding. If you get a chance try out the Sampson pedals, they are super light at 70-131 grams depending on the set and have 9-15 degrees of float which is easy on the knees.

For trail bikes? Maybe the Specialized Myka or Hardrock bikes, or the Trek Marlin. I also like GT bikes, the Timberline is a good recreational Trail bike for them and fits that budget.

I suppose, this will be my first foray into cycling. No interest in road bikes.

I took some business classes, economics was fun, accounting is a biatch when you take into account that there is software that does all of that for you now. Business wasn't my major, business law was a minor for me, I love that stuff haha.

As far as bikes go, I have a FSA carbon fiber crankset and juicy carbon fiber brake handles on my bike, I love going fast but I also like going off-road so I didn't go full roadbike but the cassette on the back is roadbike (9-speed Shimano Ultegra)

Good post @ everyone, I'm glad to see other cyclists up in here!

Just a quick pick of my Gios. It's a steel frame, carbon forks, stem and seatpost and Chris King hubs.
