Since I have photoshop open I decided to create a second version of this image to explain how DirectX works too. What was their point again? Oh yeah they wanted to highlight the differences. Sorry didn't spot that information in this particular slide.

The "game changing" is they don't depend on DX API which is to some degree under MS control, and to some degree "crippled" because of compatibility reasons.W

What will Mantle do for existing/DX9 games? Absolutely nothing.

What MIGHT mantle do for future games? Absolutely everything. IF it catches on, and IF it's somehow magically extended to nvidia. Which it won't .
