My precious Razer Nostromo I use to pwn people in Star Trek Online with was heavily present:

As far as the movie goes I never read the book. The movie was fucking brilliant and any faggots upset that their precious memory of a book was ruined should shove the book up their ass for maximum enjoyment.

Looking at the Synopsis of the book on wikipedia it seems as if they followed closely enough to the plot and events. The usual changes and cut outs. Rotten Tomatoes claims the movie is not as thought provoking as the book. The movie is thought provoking enough. Sure they didn't push it so far as to make the fucking audience cry but they shouldn't have to. If people are that blind to the meanings and realities let them continue to be blind.

Id call it one of the best movies I have ever seen in my life.

I'm one of the faggots that read the book before the movie, and actually it keeps pretty close for the most part.

Of course, EVERYTHING is nowhere nearly as detailed or as elaborated-on as in the book, but that's what you get when you compress an entire book into 2 hours. It's also a bit tamer and changed in some places (religion is "illegal" or "frowned upon" in the book, so that "salam aleikum" is actually kind of a bigger deal, the relationship with Alai goes much deeper - Ha! Gayyyy! - the interactions in the training school are way more elaborate, Dragon army doesn't rise to the top that quickly, he breaks some boy's arm on the way to the training school the first time, Bonzo Madrid dies for sure, violently, on the spot, no "spinal injury, could recover" BS, etc. etc.).

I thought they did quite a great job though, could've been MUCH worse. It was a cool movie! I thought Ben Kingsley sucked balls a little bit though, I was expecting better from his role somehow (tattoo guy, Mazer Rackham).

Also the razer nostromo can suck my balls. :-P

Not calling em fags for reading the book calling em fags if they cry.

Well you know will smith was one of their other choices and.... I'll take Sir Ben for that.

We are going to see it tonight most likely. I read it as a novella back in '79, read it as a novel in the 80's and reread it a couple of months ago. The book is read in the Marines and in most service academies as a study in leadership and tactics. I have heard the movie is pretty true to the book and agree it is a challenge to put in everything that is on the page. Also, there was no reason to cry over anything in the book, unless I am a totally heartless person and missed something. I am just glad they finally made it.

I finally saw it the other day and I have to say it blew my mind. The CG was so beautiful and wasnt half assed. How many books are there? I hope there is a possible sequel coming soon. Surely has my vote for film of the year.
Edit: there are four books, yay!

I grew up with the book and saw the film too. I did enjoy the movie. Already had the expectation of theatrical adaptation changes which were there in not so negative differentiation of a way. Overall the cgi was pretty good. Would like to see more but it seems like the takings vs budget might not justify movie story continuation.... Which would be a shame.
