And now I am with Verizon

I have a 4 month old iPhone 5 for $300.

I have a Galaxy S4 on the way.

I really want to get on a GSM carrier but AT&T is fucking retarted and I owe T Mobile money and it looks like... yeah around here I am out of choices lol.

I want 2 things. An unlocked device (bootloader, not sim) with official stable CyanogenMod support and a device I can afford. Pretty much a Nexus device fits into there and thats about it. So fuck my life there is literally no phone and no carrier that meets these requirements.

My Galaxy S2 is still chugging along nicely on CM 10.1 (Android 4.2.2) and 10.2/4.3 is underway. Looking between 3 device right now myself Galaxy Note 3, LG G2 or whatever the Nexus 5 brings.

Verizon has LTE in the middle of bumfuck nowhere (a place i intend to move) which is nice but pretty much every on contract device has a locked bootloader. Still pretty sure I will end up there just because. Hopefully they crack the Galaxy Note 3 bootloader I can't afford 600+ outright.

+1
Love my Galaxy S4. Not only is a great piece of hardware on its own, but its also a very easy phone to root and put a custom rom on (if you so desire). If you decide to stay stock, I'm sure you'll enjoy the phone as well.

Is the iphone unlocked?

buy foreign, anything other than apple is cheaper outside the states.

You have failed. No carrier to run said foreign device on. AT&T charges for text messaging... somehow we traveled back to 2001 and the only other primary GSM carrier in my area isn't going to give me service.

GSM kinda blows in the united states. You have 2 or 3 carriers that no one likes and then a bunch of prepaid carriers which means no roaming. CDMA just has that can't swap carriers feel most days (another struggle like software support). But they bring coverage like verizon or unlimited like Sprint and there are a couple more choices as well.
