No fees here either though my account was setup under a special deal they had years ago. I prefer BoA actually because I never have to visit the bank. You can deposit cash and checks directly into the ATM without an envelope and cash is available immediately, checks the first 300 until the next day. I make most of my deposits at 3 AM and need the money as fast as possible. Its different than when banks started just "trusting" the deposit amount you put in the ATM. Since it scans the checks and has a cash counter it KNOWS.

I am sure the other banks will catch up since the ATM's are technically not proprietary but I have several accounts spread across other banks and none of them have ATM's like this. It could be worse though anyone remember putting crap in an ATM and waiting til friday or whatever it was.

Also worth noting that BoA had ATM's at every Royal Farms until recently. Its like a 7-11 over here in the DMV and I stop there 2 or 3 times a day. That was always a motivating factor. There were more BoA ATM's in the 2 counties I travel between than any other bank combined.

The credit union I use has the check scanner. I rarely use it but it is cool I can get 400 dollars of a check right after deposit. I had BofA way back in the day and I fucking hated them fees up the ass low account balance fee 5 dollars to cash a check fee checking account fee tellar assistance fee. Than I switched to wells fargo and the same thing. Switched to BECU and never looked back its the Boeing credit union. I once had a NSF check go through due to an auto withdrawal and they just let it slide. Their only down side is they have no money in any of there banks other than the main office but i use plastic everywhere so I don't care.

yeah. BoA blows. I use cacu. free everything including mobile deposits via my phone. all over the country too.

The account they have now its no monthly fee (or min bal) as long as you get a direct deposit of at least 500 a month. But I have no desire to have direct deposit since hey maybe I overdrew and I need all of that check. But basically the account I have now will run out on the free thing after X number of years. Every time they do that to me I just open a new account under a new deal and close the old one. Online no less. With Royal Farms no longer having the ATM's I probably have less of a reason but I still don't see much of other banks.

M&T and PNC would be my next choices. PNC bought out the Mercantile Banks that were in this state which I had an account with because I moved to the middle of no where once. My PNC account has 8 cents in it so apparently they dont charge me for that account... lol

I do find it funny people want free banking, as if that can actually exist. If all a bank did was cash checks and provide bank accounts, they would all go under charging no fee's. The only reason they can get away with providing the minimal services I use is because every day they are out there raping people on loans.

One of the credit unions here is MECU they like to call themselves baltimores credit union, never checked them out tho.

Clarification. they are part of a very large network of credit unions that all honor each others customers, etc.

Checking maps yeah seems most of MECU's atms are co-ops that checking CACU's maps are also listed.

Banks make their money off of loans and interest. They are able to give loans based on the amount of money they have on hand, see compound banking, charging people to have accounts with them is just greed and people being dumb enough to put up with it. Your smart enough to get the deal that allows you a no fee banking.

In some cases I suspect it is more than greed. It's paying for their inefficient personnel. But greed all the way too.

Banks pay for their "free checking" from broke people over drafting their account. $30 - $35 per overdraft. They set up the way the payments go out so you never get just one over draft fee. It's always like a $25 purchase overdrafts an account then that fucks up the other 6 purchases before because that cleared first. So a $0.99 purchase costs you $35.99.
My gf is an accountant. I get an allowance, haven't had a overdraft fee for over ten years since collage. Late on a few CC payments but that's because I'm lazy and don't check the mail. If I do check it I don't open it.

BOA is shit. Constantly being sued by the government and class actions. It would have done America a favor by not bailing them out. They get saved but still get the oppertunity to foreclose on troubled loans. No BOA would make americans feel patriotic again about banks.
