Joe Paterno at deaths door.

He's been at death's door since the late 90's. Death doesn't even bother looking out the window to see who's there anymore.

Calling Joe Paterno a scumbag is not only totally disrespectful but also flat out wrong. Regardless of your opinion on what happened, he has done more good for a collegiate and football program than any other person I know. How about you show a little respect for someone who has meant a lot to hundreds of thousands of people including myself, especially a day or two after he died. Maybe people who don't go to Penn State don't understand, but seriously I would expect that kind of attitude towards Sandusky, you know the guy who actually raped children, not the person who was caught in the middle. I don't want to start a debate about the whole Sandusky case because that's not what I came to talk about.

Looks like I will be the first to say it on this site, but here goes:

Joe Paterno, you meant so much to so many people. You will forever be in our hearts and remembered for making Penn State the place it is today. Rest in Peace.

I know when I think of hero, I think of Joe Paterno. The type of bravery it took to stand by while children were raped....I can't imagine the guts that took.

Because, you know, a hero is someone who coaches football. Hero. Football. Child. Rape.

I guess let me be the first to say FUCK Joe Paterno. Hope your cancer hurt more than the children that were anally raped. HERO.

Your attitude is admiral zappy, so long as its to anyone and everyone who knows about children getting raped and does nothing. I really hope you don't watch ESPN seeing how they sat silent about a child abuse scandal at Syracuse for ~10 years. At least Penn State fired those involved, can't say the same about ESPN...

Just so we are clear, I'm not defending what happened with the Sandusky stuff. What happened was horrific and an embarrassment.

Who in the HELL would call a person that turns a blind eye to child rape a hero?????????????????? I don't give a fuck who he/she coaches for! Obviously the person that committed the act is worse, but those who KNEW about it that had as much influence as that dead fuck Paterno and did NOTHING are as guilty as well.

And since when have we lowered our standards as a society down to calling a coach..........a coach of a GAME.......a hero? Amazing.

Done with this. Fuck this hero worship for a "hero" that defends fucking children.

I hope Sandusky blames himself for completely destroying the legacy of someone who would otherwise be remembered as a legend of the college football world. Paterno deserves to have that legacy destroyed, but it's worth noting that he through it all away to protect his friend and his football program right or wrong.
