I would have gotten a picture of the deer but 911 took so long that the deer said fuck this I am out of here.

Driving down 2 had 2 deer run across missed the first hit the second. I was decelerating and the vehicle is low enough that the grill took the hit not the bumper, no deployment. I pulled over and got out one guy had seen it. He was trying to make sure more people didn't run it over.

Happen to have flagged down a homicide detective who the other guy promptly asked if he had a gun. Guy was like yeah but I can't shoot it. I was on 911 the whole time and the deer got up and left. Flagged down another officer on duty but apparently I still had to finish the conversation with the 911 operator.

Im gonna be sad face to put the original 99 grill back on which is fugly this one is off an 01 S10. Going to need atleast a headlight and turn signal. The rest a hammer should sort.

Well shit glad it wasn't worse. Was it a big deer?
Not really in fact the civi mistook it for a doe. I haven't paid attention to deer in a long time but it looked pretty young. Antlers were missing but based on the damage to the truck I don't think I broke them off so it was probably a young buck. He had a stump on the one side not like a complete shed but more like it was cut.

Well then, time to add a riot mesh to the windshield and a roll cage for the compartment? Luck ain't going to strike like that twice.

Where on 2? I have not seen deer cross north of Marley Station mall. Glad you're ok!

Just went and took it for a drive in the snow. We were worried that the spot on the ground might have been leaking fluid. Can't confirm that it isn't but so far the truck is holding most of its fluids. That side of the radiator is the oil cooler...

The bumper brackets appear to be fine I thought it might have tweaked it a little but I finally got whats left of the left side of the grill reattached. Won't be sure if the drivers side lights are fine until I actually take them off but the right headlight was even worse than I thought. Thought it was just busted the entire thing sheared off the bracket and it itself has split into multiple peices. So much for using clear tape...

So a grill and lights should so it. Im gonna leave the hood as it is. One minor correction that that the driver side will close a little more.

Make sure the oil cooler lines are tight. I had a similar incident with my blazer (which the son now has) and had minor leaking from them. It is even the same color, but 2000 with 4wd.

Well despite having driven home that night and around town the next day it turns out its screwed. Not sure yet but its overheating with no heat. I thought it might have leaked coolant so I drove up to the store to which the truck reached its normal high temp (195 to 210 is normal range with the thermo being 195). I put coolant directly in the radiator threw the rest in the overflow. Temp dropped about 15 degrees. Heat still never came around and then it just started getting hotter.

So yeah diagnosing in 5 degree weather. Going to be awesome checking for leaks especially after leaking fluid all over the fucking thing. Pumps spinning (duh) and I don't think its leaking. Forgot to check the upper hose prior to cutting it off but have a feeling having an air/vacuum issue if the rad isn't just straight leaking like a sieve.

Bummer about the truck, man.

The good thing is you walked away from it without being hurt. And like the deer, you may be "hoofing it" for awhile.

Good luck with everything.

Pinched line maybe

Yeah bottom hose seems open and resistsant to squeezing from the pressure of the water in the radiator. Upper hose won't have anything until the themostat opens. I don't feel like screwing with it until it warms up but honestly my first instinct is to pull the thermostat and plug the heater core lines just so I can check for circulation.

If its leaking slowly and I lost all the coolant than I suspect air to be an issue and GM was nice enough to include a bleeder on the thermostat housing. Still goes back to identifying that I have a damaged radiator though.

Put a headlight on it today. It became apparent the hood isn't as damaged as I thought it was the radiator support took alot more damage than I thought and is also pulling the corner of that fender down (or well really they bent together).

No luck finding a grill today. Had about 10 S-10's/Blazers with composites only one of them had a complete set of passenger side lights none of them with good grills. Worst part is the one with the lights I needed wouldn't pop its hood. Had to pry the lock and sadly it gave up pretty easy. I picked up a turn signal but until I get a grill to attach it to... The old one is taped on for now has been for a few days.

Thinking about taking a slide hammer to the corner of the radiator support try to move it about a 1/4 inch if I can though it needs about 3/4 of an inch to be right. If not I will just pull it straight out enough, right now only 3 of the 4 points the headlight attaches to can reach. I would rather pull the whole support back out a tiny bit than to try and correct only one mounting spot because it would benifit everything to do so.

too bad you dont have a" barry's you pull it" near by, plenty of s10 grills
