For those living under a rock, a liberal rag in New York decided to FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) the names and addresses of every permitted handgun owner in three counties surrounding New York Shitty and publish them. An enterprising blogger figured turnabout was fair play and posted an identical map but with the names addresses and phone numbers of the staff of the New York Journal News paper. One of the three counties is refusing to provide the information, citing the 8000 retired and active duty police officers as well as people with restraining orders residing in the county and concern for the safety of corrections officers who are being threatened by prisoners now that their home addresses are on the web courtesy of this birdcage liner. All told they published the names and addresses of thousands of law abiding gun owners, and people wonder why some of us don't want gun registration. People in these neighborhoods who do not own guns are crying foul because now thieves and criminals know which homes to target and which to steer clear of...
