Montage I Put Together Today

0:20 rush mode gets an attack jet in caspian but conquest mode only gets stealth jets? what the....

0:40 aww damn I used to bump that song a lot, nice memories

nice video and I like the bass on the last song

Lol the record companies just put a copy write claim on it and took it down. Lol RIP

Edit: An obscure record label blocked it because it had a 20 second sample from one of their nobody artists. Took the song and made it sharp by 50 cents, youtube didn't match it, here it is again:

Thanks! I use Adobe Premiere Pro cc 2014 for the videos and then the intro with the motion tracking was made in Adobe After Effects CC 2014. Premiere Pro is an excellent, intuitive piece of software that wipes the floor with Sony Vegas. After Effects was so complicated I never messed with it after making that intro with the motion tracking "enVy Battlefield" that pops out of the wall.

I learned how to use it just from watching Youtube tutorials and tinkering with it. Over time it just got organically better, I don't really know how or why, it just kind of happened.

The following is what I tried to apply to this particular video:

I try to keep things consistent as much as possible and use the music to decide what clip goes where. Take the quick scopes and no scopes for example; I'll try to keep it no more than two player steps before scoping in and then cut it immediately after pulling the bolt back and/or cambering another round. The only time it sways from that would be when I need a little filler in between clips to buy time so that the next clip lines up with a musical cue. Some examples regarding intentional musical cues would be, the smaw jet kill right as the melody starts, jumping off the roof and landing right on a snare downbeat, and at the end when the beat sounds like it's "falling", I edited it so I'm running down the stairs at the same pace the melody "runs down", and the quad kill ends on the last beat of that measure of the music.

Sometimes cool stuff just happens by accident. In the clip of me demolishing the enemy team's push after the big multi C4 kill in the beginning, I had accidentally set the playback speed of the clip to 200% while editing. When it played with that heavy bass line, it reminded me of sitting in a car with a crazy sub woofer and having the windows vibrate. I liked it so much I made it a recurring theme at the end.

When I'm looking through my recordings and cutting clips, I'll sort every thing by map, type of kill/event, if there's multiple clips of a string of events I'll keep them grouped in series. Then when I'm making the actual video, I'll try to keep those clips grouped as much as possible by type or series. In my earlier montages I just kind of put random stuff here and there and it was a mess. Every clip's playback speed was set to a minimum of 105% in this video. While most of them are sped up a bit more, it helps take the clunkiness out of Battlefield movements and makes it easier to watch. A good tip that came from a utoober was that you only have a few seconds to draw the viewer in and make them commit to actually watching it. You have to set the hook and reel them in right away.

Last but not least, only use one type of clip transition in between clips. My favorite's "dip to black". That contributes more than anything else to a clean, cohesive looking edit and video. It took me a few videos of silly, random transitions to realize that.

But yeah, that's about the jist of it I suppose. I enjoy making them, it's pretty fun. If you ever take the plunge and have any questions I'd be more than happy to help. :)

I used Adobe Audition CC 2014 to take the pitch of the song and made it ever so sharp so that the Google algorithms wouldn't match it. It's seems like it worked I just hope the record label doesn't come across it, realize what's going on, and then sue my socks off. :D

I made a playlist of all my videos in order from newest to oldest for whomever might be interested. Fair warning, my first three videos are pretty bad.
