I know this is an Australian news clip, and some of you have seen me discuss this before, but the device they are discussing was the result of one of my brother's projects at DARPA. Australia recently ordered some and the US has had them in Afghanistan for a while in small numbers (though those numbers will increase dramatically). There is a big push at DARPA to work out how to recognize TBI and work on treatment before it becomes a long term problem, something which has been a really nasty development of the combat we have seen in Iraq and Afghanistan. Not really mentioned is the part about medics being able to see red/yellow/green on the device at the push of a button and the ability of field hospitals to download the information via a usb port on the sensors.
