So today I finally decided that my Asus G72GX needs to be replaced. For months I have dealt with issues that I hypothesize stem from a chronic overheating issue. The overheating basically made the computer unusable for gaming and that is what lead me to build myself a desktop. However I have been using the laptop for all my work and internet purposes while the desktop was for entertainment only. But over the months more and more issues came up and I think the high temps just burnt the thing out. Here is my list of issues:
-Unreliable USB ports
-Monitor flickers, sometimes goes all white
-CD drive doesnt work
-It will completely freeze and lock up while streaming netflix/youtube, with an annoying and distorted sound.
-(and new yesterday and the reason im calling it quits) Network card would not connect to any networks, and now doesn't even show that there are networks.

Luckily I got the accidental 3 year warranty for $1000 at bestbuy and will hopefully get a new one like last time I had a laptop die on me. It probably wont be another gaming laptop since I have this desktop as a work horse, but we shall see what my money can get me

sounds like your laptop has just met its end life cycle. I had a Media PC in the living room, similar symptoms as you desribed. Back up your data on it whiile you can.

Well sucks about all the other shit but as far as overheating you have pulled and cleaned the heatsinks and redid the paste? Unless you work in a clean room most of the laptop guys would say to do it once a year cant say I have seen many make it 2 years without atleast blowing out the heatsink and preferably not with it in the laptop.

I never changed the heatsink....but i cleaned it of dust once lol. Oh well I dont need it for gamming anymore plus I should be able to get a new one with updated hardware for free. Thats how it worked last time for me at bestbuy
