I had to sell my 500 Magnum that I purchased this past summer to afford this but given my current medical problems which have me confined to a wheelchair for the time being, I figured I would get more use and enjoyment from this, than from a weapon I have never fired. I checked the UPS site this morning and it's showing out for delivery along with a few accessories I ordered to go with it. Hopefully after my brother gets off work today he can unpack for me that way I can get it set up in time to do some BF3 on turkey day. I have 2- high end laptops that are able to run BF3 but only on medium settings and even then they both get too hot even with the lids open and I'm afraid it's putting too much stress on them which could result in a premature failure.

This is the first desktop that I haven’t built from scratch but given my current medical problems there was no way I would be able to build one myself this time. I hated to sell the Magnum because I’ve wanted one for my collection since they first came out but again due to my current medical problems money is extremely tight right now and since I still still possess the firepower of a small army it only made sense to sell something I obviously didn’t need to get this rig as opposed to racking up more credit card debt.

Like I mentioned, this is the first desktop system I haven’t built myself and while I looked at quite a few rig's from the big boys, I went with Systemax because they are a US based company with US based support but also because after comparing systems and doing my research Systemax had the best reviews from consumers across the board! I'm sure some of you self proclaimed experts will say I could have done better for the money I spent but something tells me I'll be more than satisfied once I get BF3 fired up. I also like the fact this system is easily upgradeable in the event I need to give it more horsepower.

I was able to sell my 500 Magnum with the accessories and 100 rounds of ammo for $3,000.00 and while I could have gotten a more powerful system than this, I figured this rig has more than enough horsepower and it would be better to use the leftover funds to pay down some of my bills. Below is link and a photo from where I purchased it so you can see the exact specifications and get an idea what it looks like. Once I get it setup and running I'll take some photo's and post them.

Yeah, looks like a nice rig. I think you'll have fun playing BF3 with this.

You sold guns to buy a computer:( What are you going to do when you need to shoot your wife:D

Twice divorced and not a shot fired but I still have 11 others should the need arise.:evil2:

11 of either is impressive, but if it had been the ex wives, you might of had a world record.

Actually we would figure you of all people would have just done it yourself anyways. Guarantee on 4.6 ghz is good though and the price isnt far off at all. If your looking for an overclock its always nice to have someone else sort through a stack of samples than to have to worry about it. I shoulda given up and bought a 5ghz i5 off one of the guys who tests and resells. Oh well new cpu next year anyways.

Your right, normally I would have built my own but with circumstances being what they are now, I can't even get it out of the box until my brother gets here tonight which sucks, so building one this time around was completely out of the question. The only thing I'm going to do to this machine is add a second DVD Writer and another Crucial 128GB SSD that I pulled from an old laptop I sold, so that I can run in RAID 0. As for a new CPU next year, well if I win my medical malpractice suit against this arrogant sorry excuse of a surgeon, I'll be buying much more than a new CPU!

Yeah i figured that was the reason. Remember that trim isn't usually supported under Raid0. I know one company just came out with one that does its cleanup on the low level and intel just updated their rst to support trim in raid on some of their drives.

If it wasnt for battlefield 3 i would have waited. I wanna do some 8 threaded folding so I am going with an Ivy Bridge i7 next year and a Z77 motherboard. Will hopefully last me my 4 or 5 years and the PCI-E 3.0 might come in handy by the end of the machines life. I replace laptops every 3 and desktops every 5.

I have someone in mind for this mobo and cpu but if that falls through if someones looking Im thinking 250 for the pair come summer/ivy bridge.

Leave it to Rain to type a bunch of gizmodo nerdy dumb shit and ruin a thread about guns and killing exwives

Well, damn, and here I thought this thread was about shockwave's new BF3 rig.
