Hey, how's it going TBG,
I'm the leader of MI6 Gaming (http://www.mi6gaming.com), we're a part of the PCGN League. I've noticed on your forums that there seems to be very frequent members and consistent activity, in addition to a well stocked roster, which is why I'd like to invite TBG to compete in the PCGN league.
Our initial season 1 12v12 League was very successful, with big names like Area51, ViolentIndustries, DigiRev, EGO, MI6, DBD, OP4, etc competing, ultimately won by Violent Industries. With the suppression patch back in March, a lot of teams lost interest in playing the game.
Currently, we have 7 teams with well sized rosters enlisted and competing in our Season 2 8v8 League, with semifinals happening this week and a new season starting next week. Additionally, there are four new teams (AOD, H3LL, BEL, Armored FIST) that will be playing in the new Season 3 League, starting next week, and we're continuously looking to add more. We expect to have a total of 16 clans participating in Season 3.
With the summer months ahead of us, we anticipate more people coming back and playing battlefield in their spare time, as well as looking for competitive teams to join. So we're revamping our league, and we're seeking out good, established, quality communities to participate.
A bit of background on PCGN
The rules and regulations are put in place not by league officials, but are rather determined by community meetings on the PCGN League teamspeak once or twice a month; which is very different from most other leagues.
All the common start up stuff you would expect in smaller sized league is out of the way, as the PCGN has been around since 1999, and was primarily a successful Counter Strike league; it has since redone and modernized its website in the past year. This is not a league that some people threw up overnight and are trying to get it going, we're trying to get it reignited!
Here's more information, from a post I had posted on the battlelog forums:
"The PCGN league is a long established league, originating back to 1999, and has had a branch for Battlefield 3 since its release. It's a great, rapidly growing league that is different than the TWL or ESL. We have consistently provided a PC gaming league that caters to quality teams who want to bring their skills to the table, all within a friendly, well mannered environment and a balanced approach to rules that allows for flexibility and negotiation of rules when agreed upon by the two teams.
So, what's different about this league?
In the PCGN League, you can also negotiate the terms of the match with other clans. For example, you can request to not have tact lights, and if both teams agree, then they can be disallowed for your match, or if you'd like to arrange a custom time other than the default for your match, as long as the other team agrees, it can be set to a later date. As long as both teams agree, adjustments can be made.
What does PCGN do better than other leagues?
The TWL limits your team roster to 20 players. If your community has 30 members, 10 people wouldn't be able to play on that team, and they would have to register for a completely separate team, even though they're in the same clan. You can't play across team rosters; in PCGN you can.
The PCGN occasionally also has public meetings for people to come on, represent their clans, and bring their ideas to the table, such as to change a rule like banning a specific weapon that might be glitched/overpowered, like the m26 dart was.
How are rules and settings determined?
Each clan that participates has one or two representatives from their team as a League Admin. Whenever a new league, ladder, or change is introduced, we all get together, dish out our thoughts, and reach a balance by voting on it. Unlike many other leagues where you're under a very rigid structure, the PCGN league offers a much more open approach.
How are matches scheduled?
Each league has a consistent date and time for the default time to be played. Every week, you will be updated as to what team you will play. For example, if you are in the 8v8 Conquest League, your default match time would be Sundays at 9:00 p.m. This routine allows for people to plan in advanced and to also organize practices before hand, so you don't have to constantly check back to see if you were challenged, and play at random times of the week.
Part of a team that wants to join, but you have some questions? No problem. Add me, Krov7, Kyreaper1, or Fire488 on battlelog and we'd be happy to help get you set up.
