Proposed swap would give Corps an extra F-35B

I'm torn on this for several reasons. First I think it's a good move, particularly if there is a performance concern because now the military DOD can get a good hands on look at the aircraft before deciding whether or not to scrap as has been proposed by the perpetually shortsighted Robert Gates. Second I don't want the US to invest in the 35 while shitcanning the dramatically superior Raptor, another terminally shortsighted decision by Gates. We do need CAS aircraft to replace the aging Harrier, I'm just not sold on another single engine VSTOL. Whatever, make the swap.

the f-35 program is horribly over budget and it's main benefit is in the electronics. it's performance is terrible and it's stealth is easily compromised with L band radar and optical sensors. the f-35B (VTOL) is cool though and better than the harrier. scrap the f-35(A and C) and buy more f-22s.

we in canada are going to buy your single engine airplane to partol our arctic, that way when the engine dies and a 160+million dollar plane is lost along with a pilot we can at least say we tried. politicians are idiots

I'm with you, pilot, fuck the F35s why not more f-22s as long as we're getting graped for cost. For fuck sake, the US govt. put multiple billions into developing this technology and they still get charged out the ass per plane? Who's the genius that came up with this procurement arrangement? Is he a CEO of Haliburton?
