The A.K. is a awesome weapon, with a equally "awesome" recoil. All of the A.K.'s sold in the U.S. have "legal" parts, and have modified receivers. However, even with the original parts, take a look at how difficult is it to shoot, as demonstrated by real soldiers. This is the only video I could find, where the A.K. is practiced by professionals.

Although I once did competitive shooting, and shooting the AK is actually fun, I could never hit anything in full auto. Even short burst are challenging. Funny how in the movies they manage to kill 3 or 4 people with a single clip.

Skip to 4:45, there is nothing else to see, except how much gear modern infantry carry.

What are your experiences with the A.K.?

We tested a bunch of Soviet weapons that we "confiscated" in Panama, before the invasion. We had AK-74, AKMS, SVD, RPK and other goodies. Not a real fan of them because we had just added the SAW to our inventory and it was sweet.

Those guns in the video appear to have forward grips which many AK's probably dont have

This is why I dont like the AK family.

Now don't get me wrong, I still think it's an amazing weapon for what it was designed for. To be rugged and inexpensive to make as well as being able to be mass produced quickly.
