So this is what is stated on the BF4 I/O server details page on battle log:
"WELCOME!VEHICLE SPAWN ONCE FOR TRANSPORTATION!|RELIGIOUS/ETHNIC WORDS USED AS INSULTS OR RACIAL SLURS =AUTO-BAN BY SCRIPT & NEVER LIFTED. DO NOT TEST IT, TROLL IT OR QUESTION IT IN GAME.|SWEARING ALLOWED BUT RESPECT EACH OTHER AND ADMINS"

But more importantly I'm looking at the part where it says
"RELIGIOUS/ETHNIC WORDS USED AS INSULTS OR RACIAL SLURS =AUTO-BAN BY SCRIPT"

So i understand this rule, but I'm curious why i was banned for even saying the word "Jew"

The rules say "WORDS USED AS INSULTS OR RACIAL SLURS" and even though its not a racial slur or used as an insult, i am banned for saying it.

Here is the link to the Battlelog page if you want to check the legitimacy of the rules i posted.

And you can find similar rules on this site.

This WAS my favorite server to play in with my friends (rank 50th or something close), and now I'm just trying to understand my disappointing ban a little better.

Thanks for your time

I am aware of the ban appeal post.
I'm looking for more info.

You have been told the matter is settled, we do not lift bans for racial slurs period. You have also been asked to stop posting about the matter as it is resolved in our estimation, goodbye.

You called someone a Jew. That is not allowed in our server. There are warnings outside and in the server. It also states this will not be lifted. Not sure what more you need.

It sucks that was your favorite server but if I like a server I will make sure I follow their rules 200%

Your friend is irrelevant. Lots of people say my brother or my friend etc..none of which we care. People say this to sound like it was harmless.

yea i understand, what can i say everyone makes mistakes. anyways ban me if u want, otherwise ill see u guys in the other servers.

It saddens me that our culture continues to use this particular word as a pejorative. It isn't one. It is the descriptive pronoun for a person that follows Judaism, so in your backpedaling you have made a correct statement.

The motive behind a word's use is what makes it hurtful.

Calling another player a "Jew" unless you know without a doubt that player is Jewish will always be looked on as a slur. The burden of proof here is on you. You chose the word, the timing and the setting. Through the chat logs it's plain to interpret. Your ignorance and callous use of a proud word that describes an equally proud people insults me and indeed furthers a sense of Antisemitism that this clan has absolutely no taste for.

For the record, I'm married to an Israeli. You weren't playing with her the other night. She has an alibi.

"I called my friend a "jew" in team chat" - your friend needs new friends...
but you can't read this I guess. Bye!

or none of the above. Safe bet is to leave politics, race and religion completely out of chat. Period.

Yep there is no need for this in game. It isn't part of teamwork for the game and it definitely isn't what we call general banter. If you see someone starting a conversation that involves anything of the sort either report it to us on the forums, or turn chat off and don't get involved. It will only end badly by participating.

There's very few, if any, reasons to mention race, ethnicity, or religion in game chat. Even if people avoid "racial slur" words, race, ethnicity, or religion are used to attempt to get a rise from people most of the time that I've seen in online games. If it's a legitimate discussion, maybe there's an exception here and there, but most of the time it's not, so I would avoid any mention of them.

Edit: Probably other topics are as well, although we don't necessarily ban for them unless it gets really really bad.

Just play the game, and be reasonable with your verbal exchanges, and you'll be just fine.

Legitimate discussion often degenerates into childish name calling. Even gun control chat in BF3 went that way more times than I care for.

Heavy discussion should come to the forum or on TS.
