So since I didn't want to pay $130 for the size scratching post I wanted I just decided to do it myself. With materials for 2 of them I spent $70 so it's a good deal and I get what I want.

At first I was going to leave the bottom platform stainded/finished but it ended being too slick when that was done so I went with carpet instead. It's not finished yet as there is another foot of sisal rope I haven't added to the top portion yet but here's what I've got so far and the cat was trying to scratch on it while I was taking pictures :)

sexy, going to knit two balls of catnip on the bottom? ;)

If i had a house, I would build a carpeted track 12" below the crown moulding around the house.

That's a great looking post. Your kitty is lucky to have you for a daddy. :-)

Thanks, I'll just be glad to get the top portion done. Wrapping that sisal rope takes forever. That's 4 hours for what's been done so far and I still have a foot to wrap on the top portion, but it's coming along nicely so far.

Damn that sisal is a bitch to glue on there  Anyway, a little more progress.

That looks great. Now just make sure they float in case you have another incident.

Too soon? :-)

You see, the issue with that scratching post is that you have a cat.

Not an issue at all :) Besides, dogs are annoying as fuck.
