From provider:
Update @ 2:01am CDT on 4/18: We have seen a few other extremely large (more than 100 Gbps, and likely closer to 150 Gbps) attacks in Chicago and other locations that use a botnet containing tens of thousands of compromised devices. For each attack, our system quickly null-routes the target, but any attack that saturates our upstream connections also causes collateral damage in the form of brief packet loss for at least some clients, usually lasting about 15-30 seconds.
As always, we are notifying the ISPs involved of their compromised devices; communicating with our upstreams about possible additional filters that can be applied; and planning further upgrades (particularly in Chicago). We are also in touch with the FBI about these attacks.
