How to set up Teamspeak to play nicely with Battlefield 4
BF4's VOIP is a nice feature, but it doesn't work terribly well with teamspeak if you have voice activation. So here's a guide to setting things up so TS is muted when you're talking in Battlefield.
BF4's default PTT is the alt key. You can set this to anything you like of course, but you should make sure the TS hotkey you set up matches it duh.
Incidentally, BF4's VOIP comes through the "default communications device". You should set this (Control panel / sound / playback tab) to your headset if you use one. It makes people MUCH easier to hear.
OK, in Teamspeak, you need to go to Settings/Options, or hit alt-p:
Next, select Hotkeys and click on add:
Show advanced actions:
And set it up like you see here. On key down, ALT (Keyboard), Mute Microphone, click OK:
Same again, except it's On Key Release and Unmute microphone
When all's done the hotkey window should look like this:
And you're done. You'll be able to talk to either Teamspeak or Battlefield, but not both at the same time. Keeping the channel clear for gay innuendos and the like.
