U.S. Army's CERV puts a machine gun on a "green" military vehicle

why do they make army vehicles so open? shit i woundnt want to ride in that thing while getting shot at... put a few doors on it and roof and for sure ill give it ago.

Its not something meant to go into combat. Id expect this to be very useful on a forward operating base. You move shit around in it lol. The gun is there to repel or suppress an attack and get the fuck out if a bad day becomes your reality.

Doors and a roof are likely not to stop a bullet headed at you might even cause one not coming at you to hit you. Doors don't equal armor. You cant have an armored vehicle that's fuel efficient in respect to something like this. Rule of thumb, dont use it to hunt down Taliban and Al Qaeda leaders :p. Silly doak what we gonna do with you.

Actually, believe it or not, this vehicle would most certainly be used outside the wire. The clue is right in the name "Clandestine Extended Range Vehicle ". Armor slows down vehicles and makes you a bigger target. Special Operations teams oftentimes do missions in vehicles with little to no armor.

This also gives them the ability to cover more of the 360 degrees around the vehicle with multiple weapon systems.

Lol easy mistake to make.First time I saw a special forces humvee I did a double take. Couldnt believe that it had no doors.
