US sends floating base for special forces to Gulf to thwart Iran

iran, the country that didn't understand sarcasm when other lands said that they should make an army of ninjas now

We had "mobile bases" in the Persian Gulf in the late 80's, the MSB Hercules and the MSB Wimbrown 7. I was on the Hercules during the Iran/Iraq war during Earnest Will and Prime Chance. Interesting time out there with SpecOps Community.

I was there for nearly six months, with a whopping three day trip to Bahrain after I had been there several months. The upside was that the Navy guys had a still and we hung out mostly with the Seals, Special Boat Unit and Army aviation guys (TF 118 and TF 160). Yep, it could be pretty boring up near Farsi Island.

Pretty darned accurate on that, Rails. Our porn storage was unrivaled. It was cool to watch OH-58D helos fly two abreast under the large crane boom in the dark. The "small" crane next to the toilet was huge. Hercules was, I think, the 5th largest sea crane in the world.
