I know everyone has their own thing for video capture, and I still use Fraps cause I bought it years ago and haven't done much research since then. That said, I THINK Joe said there was something else to use that runs a little more smoothly and the file size is smaller as well. Anyone have any input?

Shameless plug: Friend posted a video of her 9 year old son playing SC2 on youtube and imgr. The link is HERE if you care to check it out at all, but I am looking to try and help further the new found interest they have. He's played Minecraft with me in years past and even played some BFBC2 years back (when the game was current). But her kids are pretty cool and she's an awesome friend so I'm trying to see what I can do to help, even if it's just offer advice of things to look in to.

OBS which is what twitch broadcasters use as is free and pretty much blows any existing software out of the water capability wise. That said you won't use half its features and its harder to setup at first.

The main idea is instead of streaming you just say record to file.

But it can record multi monitor. Add multiple input sources like webcams. You can record your whole monitor or just a window. It also supports using the built in GPU in Intel CPUs to do the encoding which basically means very little overhead.

If you want to go simple if you have nvidia 600 or better just use shadow play instead.

yup. Shadow play worms great.
