Does anyone know any good programs to use to record in-game footage? I know of FRAPS, but it seems to take a major toll on most peoples FPS. If you know of anything else, please let me know!

PlayClaw is good, but not free and is not as good as others or so I have heard. I know someone just recently posted a bunch of recording programs in another thread.

MSI afterburner is a dream if you have a real MSI, it's free too.

Thanks for the information guys, I'll give FRAPS a go and hopefully it runs all good. Appreciate the help

Fraps is the number 1 choice. Playclaw is good for those who don't have enough processor power for Fraps. I use fraps for my recording.

This is my first clip using FRAPS on ultra settings. Thanks for your help

LOL they say that and yet PlayClaw 2 actually seemed to need more power than Fraps despite being able to multithread. Ran 3 the other day for renno and it ran pretty good but they have really down the options. Playclaw gives you some options on compression while FRAPS is either low or none neither of which caters to a slow drive. Fraps has some difficulty with recording at a lower framerate than your getting, like recording at 30 while getting 100 makes it feel unplayable which is one of the reasons I record at 60.

Looks like it came out pretty smooth. In your video editor your going to want to change the project type (or however it has it) to 16:9.

Interesting...I used playclaw and it seemed less intensive....But I suppose thats just me. :p

There is a program called CamStudio that one uses to capture what you're doing on your desktop for tutorials and such. Not sure if it would capture games though, have never tried. But it seems like everyone likes PlayClaw, which I have never used. Will have to give it a shot.
