While I haven't been feeling well enough to game much I have spent a fair amount of time exploring the Window's 8 Developer Preview and I have to tell you I'm moderately impressed with this future offering from Microsoft. With that being said I'm not impressed enough with what I have seen so far as to recommend that anyone bother wasting your money on upgrading your O/S if you already running Win 7. Now if you’re running an older O/S or already running Win 7 but you’re looking for a much smoother touch screen experience with a strong focus on mobile computing then at this point based on what I have seen so far it may be worth the money to upgrade.

I don't have a lot of the technical stuff for you guys yet simply because I don't have the energy or concentration right now to break it all down however, I will tell you that navigating Win 8 will take some getting used to and it can be a bit daunting but I don't see it being overwhelming and once you get used to it, I think you will find it a major improvement over previous versions of the Windows O/S.

I am currently testing both versions of the O/S. The 64-bit version is installed on of my notebooks and the 32-bit version is being tested on my ASUS Eee Slate. The notebook is an i7 with 12GB of ram and the ASUS tablet is an i5 with 4GB of memory. I especially like the feel of the OS on the tablet over the Win7 O/S that came with it but a definite good thing I have noticed with Win 8 is that at system idle it uses less resources than Win 7.

I'm not going to be able to provide you with the same in depth technical details that most of the Win 8 sites and experts can that is not my objective here as I am trying to provide you with my personal impression and thoughts on the new O/S. I will continue to experiment over the next few weeks and if I run across anything that seems noteworthy, I will post it. In the meantime I do want to mention that I had little to no compatibility issues with current hardware configurations on either of these machines and that pretty much goes for software as well for both the 32 & 64 bit versions.

Well with the changes they have been showing and discussing id imagine the developer previw is very far behind. Unless your getting updates to it. Its pretty clear at the moment they intend to rip out the way we are used to working with a pc and discard and deprecate alot of things new to 7 not in vista we coders just started utilizing. They really need to put the desktop back in and let us middle it folr one version. Feels more like a windows 3.1 workflow than 95 to7.
