is there a tradition of "elves" in the U.S.? as in you get small nice things in "socks" in the mornings of the days leading up to christmas?

everyone does it different but yes we have elves and we call the socks stockings mine were always filled with lil goodies on Xmas morning not the mornings leading up to. but not sure why we are asking about Christmas on a HALLOWEEN POST. WE HAVENT EVEN HAD TURKEY YET. in the states of course
