Hi Mash. Are you spending Christmas there? Even Santa and the reindeer would find it chilly.

Up here till the 24th, then off for 7 days to visit with family. He may find it invigorating.

The atrs still run at those temps? Happy flying and stay safe (warm)

Yep. Although once we hit -45 ambient the risk of Jet A starting to Gel is an issue. Will see how to old girl enjoys tonight.. up to Igloolik and then Resolute. We often run with our prop brake on during the offloads to try and keep heat up front and an engine warm.

Enjoying the north pole? lol.

It pays. Lol. We r like Santa Clause everyday for these remote communities. It's cold but rewarding. The people up here are hard workers, and still in touch with traditional ways although there are certainly many of the modern perks up here too. They eat whale fat, and kill sweet cute baby seals so they r good in my books lol. You can get a boat load of Arctic char here for a simple few pounds of fresh meat from down south or a case of Pepsi in trade. It's an amazing part of the world.

keep the tannis plugged

That and plugs when we have the support in place. Many of our high arctic stops unfortunately do not. Where they do, it's in a more "general aviation" area of the ramp which the 72 gets no where near. Thankfully we can offload pretty quickly. Everything is on pallets and roller floors. Quickly if the loaders show up lol. Standard challenges in the north.

Hey I work for a company that is affiliated with a mine up there. Are you by any chance into mining? :-P

That's really a cool place... Looks like the middle of nowhere...

Agnico Eagle. We sell explosives to them / it's a joint venture project :-) .

Haha. Yeah man. Well sort of. We WERE doing the Medowbank (near Baker Lake)mine contract till we were bid out by a company who barely pays their pilots enough to live on. So we don't fly to that mine anymore but something tells me it'll just be a matter of time till they come to their senses.

That's exactly what makes it an amazing part of the world. Not surrounded by human clutter, big city bullshit. Raw. Unforgiving. Perfect.
