Whats up everyone. So I'll be purchasing one of these with in the next few weeks and want some feedback from anyone using these. Also any suggestion on a motherboard would be nice. I've done a lot of research already, just figured I would get some input from you guys. There is a pretty big price jump from the 4790k to the 6 cores in terms of Motherboards etc so i'm aware of this. I'm looking at picking up another 970 down the road so that's kind of why I'm leaning towards the 6 cores. Can anyone fill me in on their own personal experience as far as performance etc..

Hey bud, unless your into heavy streaming, 3d CAD etc... stick with the 4790k. Going to a 2011 or even x99 is actually kind of a down grade when comparing to the gaming world. Plus going to x99 is going to cost a pretty good $$, the DDR4 memory is expensive!!!!

Yea, I just didn't know if it would be worth it for the performance of the CPU and the dual x16 slots for SLI v dual x8. The cost of a 4790k and a top tier MOBO would run as much as a decent MOBO for the 6 cores. Not to mention the DDR4 Ram cost.

Also wait for the new Broadwell coming out!! I love MSI boards, I currently own a MSI z97 mpower max ac board with a 4790k. 2011 is fading out more quickly then the anticipated.

You can get the 4790K and the Asus Maximus Hero VII from Microcenter for $279 and $179...for gaming I say stick with that. If you're into ther stuff like mentioned above or you don't care about the price then get the X99 but for gaming, that 4790K is tough to beat.

I just got my system up and running with one and overclocked it 4.9 on auto settings lol

That's just funny as fuck to me. I'll have to see if I can hit the magical 5.0

Yep correct!! Thats were I purchased mine!! If you watch too they drop the price to $249.00 just about every other week. Here are a few pics of my new build with the 4790k:

So what's the deal with 2x16 PCIe slots v 2x8 PCIe slots? Will you see a big difference in running SLI between the 2?

Theoretically, yes but in actuality no. In most games you'll see a 30% improvement in fps so you won't see any difference. The sad fact is that most games are poorly optimized for SLI which is why I don't run it. Some games are geared towards it, but not the big ones and especially not BF.

SLI has really fallen out of grace and effectiveness the last few years.
