AMD R9 290X Pre-order for $725.00...so much for an affordable high end card

I love that AMD, in interviews last week, said they thought $650-700 for a video card was beyond most people to afford and they were looking to do something better with the price. They wouldn't comment on the price but said it would not be that high.

Guess what? They're full of shit. It turns out the list price is $699 and pre-orders were going for $725.00 at newegg.

What if it's like 9001 times faster than Le Titan? Really, it needs to just be any faster and it already wins. Le Titan is still $999 which I'm not even sure how it's possible lol... The real "opponent" is the 780 right now though. I just can't believe Le Titan actually sells.

I guess it has 2GB less ram, but 1 more than the 780 ;-P . And, you can mine Litecoin with it faster than Soulzz ejaculates around hot men.

It's actually kind of embarassing how bad Nvidia's CUDA shit is when it comes to compute performance. It's also sad that nobody in the "desktop" environment really cares...

As noted elsewhere those prices are for Special Edition cards with BF4 bundled. I am skeptical that the price would be below 699 without the bundle but its hard to say yet. Those copies of BF4 aren't costing AMD shit other than the 8 million they already spent.
