Okay so my peice of shit 230 dollar laptop can boot into windows on a mechanical drive faster than my desktop can even get to the Intel raid screen and thats putting my password in with 1 hand...

Make no mistake that is a cold boot. Its a bit tricky to tell since windows 8 seems to like to hibernate by default now. In addition to the extra long post time this P8Z68-V Pro seems to enjoy. You have the initialization time on the Marvel Sata controller if u need the extra points and dont forget I am running RAID for the recording arrays so that too.

So basically the fastest SSD that will ever exist, ever. Will never get you into windows faster on this machine than my laptop does. Isn't that just peachy. Just think how fast the laptop would be with even a shitty SSD lol.

I think that the main difference would be the BIOS code, and what is enabled or disabled.
My wife's HP notebook if faster than my desktop, but the desktop has two video cards and six disk drives.

How many process do you have on each computer after they are up and running in Windows?

something in those bios settings is showing you down.

Disable one thing and mind as well throw it in the trash lol. I'm using all the things slowing it down. Sure disabling the marvell controller saves 3 seconds but it loses 2 sata ports and 6 TB of storage. Disable the USB 3... Not a chance. Disabling raid would save some time too.

I just laugh at SSD boot times. Can't always help you. Not always needed. An ssd in the laptop would be nice but wouldn't help the fact that its an Atom cpu

Getting rid of BIOS per sei would help a ton nowadays. I swear windows 7 loads several gigs faster than my mobo posts
