Looking to possible by a condo in high rise in Miami but don't know much about it.

How are the housing prices in Miami in comparison to where you live now?

50-75% less than here in San Diego, I could live like a king in Miami or compared to living with 1-2 other people here in San Diego. This condo would go for 1.2-1.5 million here in San Diego and in Miami its 339k. The condo I'm in now goes for 1.3 million

The place I'm at now is $3500 a month live in now and its a 2br 2bath. The mortgage for a condo in Miami would be $1700 and its nicer and a 2br 2 bath and way better building and grounds, and its Miami. I could live by myself or get a roommate and pay roughly $900 a month.

You might also consider Georgia, or Alabama, or even Texas. If and when I move, I am seriously considering Georgia and Texas.

Born and raised in Texas for 20 years. Cant live there anymore, and Georgia not my type of place.

Shit, I'm trying to get to Houston right now. As for the real estate in Miami, is it N or S Miami? Whatever the case is, just make sure you've got enough for 20% down payment to avoid extra fees and can handle the monthly mortgage comfortably by yourself. I'd also check out things like health insurance, auto insurance and most importantly home owners insurance, including hurricane and flood. It's near impossible to find home insurance, a requirement, sometimes and if that's the case the only option is the Fl. state insurance where rates are through the roof because nobody else will insure down there. Also, check utility and food, gas prices for a comparison of where you live now.

I get 100% financing backed by the VA, but I will still put some down. Also with the Va you don't pay PMI. Its a concrete building and the hurricanes and floods don't affect these high rises, they are rated to greater that a CAT 5 hurricane, but I will look into it as well, thanks for bringing it up. There are no state taxes in Florida, and food and gas costs much less. The Condo is in a downtown high rise in downtown Miami.

Our mortgage in the house we live in is 5400.

Fuck California.

That's what I'm saying man, fuck this place, I'm outa here next month. It's to expense and the people are fucking crazy, I'm getting a good job lined up in Miami and going to go visit next week to find a place and do some interviews.

You're also 30, I'm 23 on the 24th of this month. I can't afford to leave this place just yet. I'm lucky enough to have a good paying job for my age. I think I will move out of this shit whole sooner rather than later probably by 25.

Go visit the place. I was born in Miami and S. Florida was home for 33 years and, while I loved aspects, you better make sure the area is for you. There are so many places like that all over S. Florida (and many cheaper considering the market) but you really do have to look at homeowners. Floods don't affect anyone around there except on the coast, but all buildings are CBS and all need really expensive insurance. An example, my 1500 sq ft house in Boca cost more to insure than my 4500 sq ft house in Georgia with significantly higher values across the board, and GA insurance is high because of the shitty building. If it was me, I would look around Ft. Lauderdale area because it is more comfortable feel for me and it is a bit easier to take advantage of the ocean via costs. Go spend some time and check it out -- I can always set you up with an agent in the area.

As a north-easterner Florida is my vacation spot of choice. I go there yearly. As a comparison, I've also lived in Cali, but there is no comparing! I hated Cali, while I love Florida! I also have friends In Georgia, and all my gun's collection is there, as NY laws forbid the most fun rifles.

I would take Chuck's opinion in consideration, as Ft. Lauderdale is much cheaper, South beach is a easy drive away, and over all it's a much better value. Plus Las Olas blvd. It's a destination in itself - best food I ever had in FL.

Never-mind that Fl has the best highway in the US. I was able to do 165 m/h between Naples and Miami - better then the Auto-bahn in Germany. A single curve over 150 miles and 4 lines of pure bliss!

Thanks Mega for the advice and info, the only thing I can say is that I really have to live downtown, there's nothing better than finding a girl in a thong at the pool or beach, club or bar, taking her to your bad ass high rise and jamming the shit outa her.

I too will be looking forward to moving my gun collection from Texas to Florida as well. Well have to go shoot some shit when you come down, a few of my fellow marines live in Miami now and have a bunch of weapons as well.

Here's a day in a life at south beach miami.
