Arma 3 Alpha is out

So I just bought Arma 3 which includes access to the Alpha. I have to say the weapon and character movement is much smoother than Arma 2, a lot more responsive. It appears like it runs better than Arma 2 as well, they've optimized it a bit.

Anyways,
$33 buys you the full game and gives access to the Alpha, that does have multiplayer working, and 4 different Single Player Scenarioes to test out (Infantry, Scuba, Helicopter, and Vehicle).

I have to admit, i am pretty stoked about this game. It looks pretty awesome even in alpha phase.

So, those of you that have it, give it an X/10 rating compared to BF3/COD4.

I would consider Arma in a different league from CoD and BF they all have some good bits. But Arma in my opinion just has so much content and depth it would be a 9/10 and it's only in alpha!

So, those of you that have it, give it an X/10 rating compared to BF3/COD4.

It's a different style of game play completely than BF3.

It's a more tactical slower paced game that is very much teamwork to the max based. Don't get me wrong, it's still an ass load of fun, but it's not as fast paced or chaotic as BF3.

Based off of my experience with playing comeptitively on Arma2 and using all of their advanced mods like Acre, ACE, VBSII and MSI, I would say that it is pretty awesome, and I cannot wait to see what the BI community has in store for this game.

in comparison to ArmaII:

Graphics: 8/10
The game is stunningly beautiful, Arma II, although was very expansive, lacked the beauty factor.


Infantry: 8/10:
the infantry model on ArmaIII is awesome, plain and simple, it looks amazing smooth, and handles really really well.


Aircraft: 9/10: Just the increased amount of detail, and interactions with the world make it better than Arma II, the damage model is much different and way more realistic. if you hit something with your rotors, they break apart and you crash in your helicopter and if it's not a lethal fall, you can climb out of the wreckage.


I would say if you have never played an Arma game or enjoyed BF2's Project reality and If you enjoy a tactical shooter, you will enjoy this game.




If you love the crazy and chaotic experience that you have in battlefield you may not like Arma as much, it has it's moments, but is not as sporadic, random or explosive as battlefield is.

For an alpha, its awesome. I would give it a 9/10 rating. Some people will like it and some people wont.
