I almost couldn't believe it, but Avira Antivir actually decided to remove the piece of cunt ads that they added a few years ago.
We’ve listened: Goodbye Notifier Ads! (Update) | Avira – TechBlog
I almost couldn't believe it. I reinstalled a few days ago and can confirm that it's unshit indeed. The exe that used to serve the ads is gone, and there is no spam advertising whatsoever.
It was my favorite antivirus, and I liked it so much that I almost bought a license for it (I would've if it were a bit cheaper).
It's fast, it works, configuring it "feels good," and it's designed very "to the point" - just antivirus and that's IT... so if you don't like your antivirus or if you don't have any, check it out ;-) .

Edit: I guess it's called "Avira Free Antivirus" nowadays. Oh, and their file scanner module is called "Luke Filewalker" (it's the title of the window during scans). It's a feature.
