I broke down and bought the G35 7.1 surround sound...kick ass. It also comes with some cool as voice mixers w/ hot keys on the headset; plus it has a red led on the end of the mic when its muted.
 
I just got a craptastic inexpensive Skype headset and mic since my two Logitechs seem to want to crap out on me. Balls, you make me jealous with the good gear.
 
I have to sets of plantronics! Does the trick.
I wish the Creative Fata1ity headset didn't keep crapping out on me.
 
Yeah balls I got the same headset 2 days ago. I love them. The sounds are great. The voice modulator is funny and cool too.

I went throught two Fata1ity w/ removable mic....total fucking crap..mics failed both times; just upgraded from plantroincs which is a nice set but the sound is not even close to that of the Fata1ity...which had some great sound. These bad boys wrap around your ear tight which is a takes a little getting used to; I can hardly hear myself talk.

I've had the Fatal1ty w/the removable mic for over about a year and half and have never had an issue. You must be rough on them.

It has been my experience that there are a few lucky people who bought good Creative Fatal1ty headsets...
In my case the sound would become distorted after a couple hours of game play. Granted it was always a good indication that I needed a break from the game - It was still very annoying. When I was using my laptop for a long time there - I would use the mic built into the laptop. Today I am happy with my 35mm plug and play headset from plantronics.... wish i had gone that route from the beginning. I checked out the Logitech headset and its just not within my budget or desire at the moment. Maybe one day...
 
Anything branded with Fatality I tend not to trust.
