Learned a few things myself on these videos.

Did you guys happen to hear him say that the ECM will not work after missile is launched? Not sure why that would be.

I played the past 2 days not including today and was on air maps the entire time. Everytime I had a jet or chopper locked and he flared after I fired the missle went after the counter measure... or pretended to as the game is designed. Goes for the Igla as well.

I have actually been meaning to ask if there is a radar warning for an incoming missile different from the tone warning. I cant ever seem to fake people out anymore. I want to tell myself there is because I remember hearing the incoming radar alert but I didn't hear anything the whole day except tone warnings.

Yes, from my experience I have found this very evident from both land based threats and air-based as well, however like the gentleman said in the video, the ECM deployed from the helicopter will divert missile systems away from you about 80-90% of the time. I have found that if you deploy ECM in the first second to second in a half of the "Missile inbound" tone, the missile will not hit you.

When coupled with terrain flight at altitudes of 50ft. or less, putting terrain between you and the inbound weapon system will prove to be 95% effective against all missile threats. By design: ECM and chaff, are actually a countermeasure to scramble/jam Radar frequencies of incoming missiles, while Flares are used to defeat IR optical and heat sensors in the missile seeker head. Technically the ECM would be pretty useless against a heat seeking missile but this is BF3 not real life.

It's all technique, timing and a little bit of stick skills, if you know how to use the terrain, obstacles and your defense systems to your advantage and know the capabilities of the aircraft, your survival rate will exponentially increase. Excellent find bob, great information.

Those videos are pre-patch, idodge and I tested the ECM after the patch and I came to the conclusion that it is so unreliable now that it should only be used to break locks, not distract missiles.
