BF4 - Commander Mode is Back

I love the way squads are the size of fire teams in BF3. Now, with commander mode, we get to have someone beat us out for points when you think you got a medal, just like BF2!

A tight, solid 6 man squad could beat a commander anyday. if he was a good commander, he had to have his shit wired tight for a top spot on leader board. If they keep 4 man fire team, i wont be entirely disappointed...Commander role though, boosts my hopes up for BF4.

I'm looking forward to this - I missed out on BF2 and 2142.
Regarding the squad size, I don't think they will change it for xbox - because of the team size limitations. This means that they probably won't change it for the PC - because its too much extra work. However - HOPE that they can change it to 5 or 6 man squad sizes. It just makes sense for 64 player matches. Only problem with any squad size other than 4 is that it gets hard to make it even. Some squads would be forced to be smaller based on 32 players on a team OR risk 1 or 2 players who can't get into a squad. Of course, if the players per team (32) changed to 36 then it would be more plausible.

Well, since you missed BF2, there were a lot of lonewolfs, or snipers out there, or campers...and commander doesnt take up a squad slot...so you have enough room for 3-4 full man squads on 32man maps....64 mans, well you do the math, and some people lock squads for clan only squads. But unless its a clan v clan, you are ALWAYS going to have fucktard rambos who want to do their own thing!

I still play 2142 and I really do prefer the dynamic of 6 person squads. The commander isn't really much of an asset in Titan mode but really shines in CQ. I also think VOIP is a necessity for good squad play. For you guys using TS it's not really an issue but for us pubbers it can become problematic.

I never really listened to a commander if I knew the map and all of the AoA, If I thought the commander might be right, I would listen, other than that, I tried to keep UAV over my squad because 85% of the time, there was only like one or two squads trying to take flags/defend them.

But having a clan member as a commander has its benefitss! VOIP does have its ups in squad teamwork, but the squad movements/orders/commands to the squad were SUPERIOR! And would more than make up for lack of VOIP. All you needed was a dedicated medic to shadow you, and your fire team flank/suppress or Defend til they die while you move into a strategic spawn poiint for a defensive/offensive maneuver. with out VOIP! had some EPIC fun games with a smurf squad and just ruled the map!(especially in the blackhawk/cow on mustard city!)

Commander eh? Well soulzz knows what he will do during his spare time....jerkin the gherkin with one hand and playing commander with the other trololol true multi tasker. Enemy spotted....enemy spotted .....oh my gooooodddddd......ahhh ;)

Expect a lot more playtime from this kitty

They still don't have working voip?

All I can say is l?wl. Commander without mic xD ... just supreme fail.

That's what you get when a game's developed with consoles in mind, and PC as an afterthought.

Indeed, a CDR can provide big picture down the squads and make the game flow in a way that you can help your team win. I don't really see that happening in BF3 though.. the dynamic appears different and half the time you don't even know who is part of what squad, and who the squad leaders are; the introduction of commander mode may help that. I would love to see some more leadership based interface in BF4, like in 2142. The commo rose also needs a significant improvement.
