Big News if You're Army!

I am curious about the issues with the velcro. Obviously certain things dont need to be removable though i think id like to be able to strip my identification in a particular situation even if it is futile. Im guessing there are times when things like to come off? Im sure the velcro is useful for changing patches related to the unit your assigned to etc etc. But yeah why wouldnt my flag and name be sewed on already old school?
 
Nice find bot, that and supposedly you can't call shit "Gay" anymore in the Army... which is fucking gay.


The thing is rain is that you will have to sew over the verlco meaning, you just have a permanent Velcro patch on, which is cool, save the uniform from looking like total shit.


The other thing that I am happy to hear is the "accoutrement" part, where you can to sew your rank and skill badges on.

The mentality behind the velcro was to make it easier to put on and cheaper for soldiers(no long have to pay for sewing them on)

But instead, they tripled the price of all patches, which totally negated any savings you'd get from not having them sewn on.
Few other reasons:
-After a few washes the Velcro pieces distort in shape. The name tapes are especially bad for this causing them to curl up.
-Velcro makes so much fuckin noise and is not tactical at all
-Velcro isn't strong enough to hold the cargo pockets closed if u have anything more than a piece of paper in them
-Looks like shit, very unprofessional
-Velcro fairy who STILL thinks it's funny to flip people's ranks upside down even though it has been like 6 years since we changed to ACUs
-Velcro wears out on the uniform faster
-Walking by someone with an open pocket causes the both of you to almost fall on your ass as the hook from their pocket hooks onto the pile of yours.


Only place I liked the velcro was on the zipper. Kept the body armor from digging into your chest during missions. Although the Combat shirt negated that.

Meh its kinda a broad term. I don't think it even applies to much anymore or to what your doing. But adopting local culture within the limits of regulations and or whats acceptable between the working population. There is probably more going on there than the training your doing and or what has happened in the past. But if your training local population I dont see why thing's might not exactly be normal there.

Just threw it out there since your apparently not seeing these hot ass black wool berets that obviously have no place in the damn desert lol.
