Yeah yeah nothing to be Jelly about i mean we are past Jelly Bean already. But I swear thats record time for this device getting a functioning port. Were always so screwed because of the cdma driver aspect. The Nexus 5 and 4.4 have been out how long? I was surprised enough by the screenshot I showed yesterday but for a release to happen was something else.

I was kinda surprised to see Angry GPS along for the ride. Its a background process Samsung uses to attempt to keep their GPS inline. But i mean its Qualcomm they couldn't make a functioning GPS if peoples lives depended on it and oh yeah people's lives actually depend on their shoddy GPS tech every day.

Rain,

Congrats...but old news. :)

Only a day old news seeing as how the compile date is Nov 23.

Considering CM11 is no where near done for any device kinda makes it ongoing. CM 10.2 sadly just made rc status.

It normally takes a team of developers months to get a new version of aosp or cm working on this phone. Considering it took one guy a few days seems like a feat. CDMA truly is a shitty way to go for tinkerers like us. No driver source is the suck.

CDMA Nexus phones haven't had it as bad due to the amount of support it has.

A day old for you. I think I have been ruining it since the 12th or 14th. Most common issue is with the cameras. It works beautifully (as well as FV5 or the Samsung stock ) but often crashes or produces images with green line corruption (most notably in the front facing camera). There has also been issues with external SD cards many builds.

I've used ROMs by team Gummy as well as CM 11builds. I think I've also had a modded CM 11build.

Well said, you have definitely been ruining it.

You have a GSM phone, porting to it is fucking easy. Your not listening. You have it very very easy. It seems like a fucking miracle to see CM11 booting on this in this time span. Data is a fun issue since not only do we not have vendor drivers for the WiMax Google no longer supports it in android either (though the latter isn't the real issue). CyanogenMod will never allow a build to be labled stable on my phone purely due to the Exynos 4 cpu Samsung used. We went official starting with 10.1 and 10.2 is about to merge but still we are forever Nightly only no matter how stable it is. CM's decision.

Entire reason I wanted to jump off when my contract ends next month. Any mainstream flagship phone like the S4 is a good place to be as long as its GSM. CDMA variants will always be step children. Nexus or Nexus like device is preferable but LG... and the Nexus 4 were sucky prospects. Im gonna grab the Nexus 5 but even a low end device like the new Moto G is a great device for tinkerers.

Qualcomm does most of the CDMA radios for phones and their self loving attitude towards source and profit is what kinda screws us all.

I actually am not impressed with the amount of developers for the S4. I have a jtfecan but can also use ROMs from the i9505 section...there's maybe 3 I'd consider. I'm sorry to hear about your situation as well.

I went back to 4.3 just last night. I'll follow the development of Gummy and CM for a while as the bugs I've encountered are just too annoying to use 4.4 as a daily.

Dirty Unicorns 4.0 and PAC Man are where I'll call home again for a while.

The Nexus 5, now that sounds awesome!

That sucks I am kinda surprised. Over the life of my phone we have had maybe 10 AOSP lead dev's for our CyanogenMod builds. We basically have had 3 come and go trying to get CM9 working and a couple come and go for CM10 with people like Hakcenter coming in after they were abandoned. We have had one dev that did 10.1 10.2 and now working on 11. He doesn't have an activated device and that blows. Basically after 4.2 we have no 4G thanks to it being WiMax. Sprint's 3G sucks! The guy is pretty good I mean its a shame we no longer have people like him on the E4GT.

You may or may not be familiar with sbrissen who has done alot of Samsung work but he brought some pure aosp builds as well as did alot of the work on the S2 common Kernel for all GS2's. Haven't seen him in forever.

We have had plenty of stock rom developers and we probably have one guy for each of the weirdo roms like carbon, dirty unicorns etc. I dunno why people haven't walked away from this device yet but it probably has alot to do with the device having moved onto Boost and other MVNO's and that freshens the scene up.

Hell yeah can't wait to have a phone that pretty much any good dev can be found helping with.

Oh there are devs... but no Root Box, no Xylon, no illusion, no Ktoonz (for my device)..and Slim seems to be stuck in development. Those were my go to with my S3.

I miss them and don't find the same level of quality and polish except with PAC, PA(also woefully behind in development) and Dirty Unicorns. There is also an shocking absence of custom kernels across all the S4 variants.

It makes me sad. I'm a flash monster.

My brother in laws Nexus 5 just came in. It is a beautiful thing. The feel of the device is fantastic. Puts my S4 to shame.

I'm not happy about a few things on the S4. The weight, the light sensor on the camera and the delicate metal trim around the face....I wish I had the Z1 or the Nexus 5 instead.

Had the S3 gotten a quad core in the US i would have said no reason to upgrade but we had to get the short stick to have our LTE.

No one was gonna use that anyways. Well I wasn't I meant turn on phone Download ROM reboot to recovery and install. Help is for noobs with locked phones :p

As they say all that app did was turn on adb which you can do yourself. The real installer is on your PC if you do it that way.
