Had the old IKEA desk top (from the bunk bed/office that collapsed some time ago...) lying around collecting dust, took a stroll in a furniture store, got depressed due to the prices, built my own damn table without any particular plan. Came out quite well actually, legs even, not a pain to look at.

pics (not taken with a potato, but with facebook).

It's quite big, too, cat for scale.

And yeah, I used so many screws that failure was not a possibility, around 200 if I had to guess.

p.s. cutting the material was a bitch, the guy at the "home depot"(local german equivalent) who was supposed to do it for money was convinced that he had too much work today and I could not get my 5 cuts done with a machine. It was interesting to fit 3x 2.4 meter long wood trusses in a Citroen C1, too....

the trusses were 7 feet 10 inches long.

I would contend that this is more of a desk than a table. It's a really, very important distinction as it forever determines what sort of activities said desk/table will be suited for.

Looks great!

Good stuff, well done!

Now you can wrap the table legs in carpet so the cats can use them as scratching posts. :) Then you'll have a new desk/cat toy to be proud of.

The woman wholeheartedly agrees with this plan. will post pics when cat carpet found and stapled in.

Very nice, but with that much on it; definitely put some leg support on there. And now you've thoroughly confused us Yanks with that meter thing again. Is that like 6 feet or something ;)

I don't understand what you guys mean regarding the leg supports... the legs've got huge brackets holding them in place from both sides (those you would usually use for roof frames). Is that not enough?

Are you guys thinking about connecting the legs?

Use sisal rope to wrap those legs. Sisal rope is used for cat scratching poles due to the fact the cats claws wont get caught up in the fibers
