cancelled internet service

Still don't have internet using free hotspots i can find right now with the laptop.

not being able to play BF3 sucks. got a netgear N600 wireless adapter so i can maybe find some free wifi with someone close by but i need to somehow make it bring in signals better. Does anyone know how to boost it?

I found 1 unsecured signal but it's weak and keeps dropping out if I can boost this i can probably play bf3 :) or find other unsecured networks around me.

oh hell yea

I re positioned the adapter and got a steady connection. I was able to play BF3 with no lag or loss connection. Hopefully it will stay this way and I will be able to play we shall see :)

There is no way to "boost" the connection of that adapter. Sadly like most consumer junk its transmit power is 10 to 20 times less than the maximum legal limit and as far as receiving your mostly at the mercy of yet again some low power consumer router. A very directional antenna would concentrate the signal being transmitted in a particular direction and a receiving antenna of similar configuration would assist. I highly doubt you would want to rip something apart that probably uses meta material antenna's and mod it to hook up to a YAGI lol.

Your pretty much at the mercy of the waves pal. Even with a high power adapter like the one i once linked to Sixer your only making up half the problem. It really wont improve your situation much at all.
Ive lived with it once. These days I would just tether off my cell for internet but gaming would suck and no massive downloading or id get cut off.

Might grab a high quality usb extension (Bad quality cables might not deliver enough power) to position the adapter better. Might have come with one though Ive had a few. http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10303&cs_id=1030304&p_id=5435&seq=1&format=2 should work decent. Ive actually got dollar store 6 footer that can power a hard drive but MonoPrice's cables are good.

Oh well if I can't boost it at least it does allow me to connect and play. I don't want to push my luck so I wait until later at night to play so it's less likely whoever owns the connection will notice me on it.

I have some usb extension cables around here somewhere and will see if that helps any.

You can definitely still play with low speed. I used to play with 1 MB down in the older battlefield games and pwned in them :)

The only thing that may suck is downloading BF3 patches :O

Must have been a good night Friday for that connection it's laggy in the game now.

I tried to use a usb extender cable but the adapter won't work with both cables connected . Don't know why I connect it with just that cable and it works but it won't connect with both together... The cable that came with it has what looks to be one of those inline fuses in it. Could that be causing the cables to not work when connected together?

The longer the cable, the more voltage is required to carry it to the end connection. USB is max of 7V I think, Maybe 9. Either way, that is not enough to carry past 6ft efficently. On another note, have you though about halfing the cost of internet with a neighbor and sharing a connection?

My closest two neighbors have dish network and one does not even have internet the others I really don't know that well to ask I have thought about that and might ask around to see if any of them would consider it. It's a shame I can't bet a better signal on this connection as it is always on just a hair too far.
