Cell phone rooting?

Whats up guys, I recently purchased an S5 Active from amazon. I was curious if anyone can point me in the right direction to learn about rooting and how to do it?

You cannot do a old fashioned root as AT&T has locked it, but use the safestrap. Basically it partitions your drive to install a custom ROM. I personally have not done it that way, but many people have.

XDA developers are where I go to get started with rooting devices. They don't have a sub forum for your phone specifically but the linked thread should get you started on what works best for your device.

I'm on KitKat too, I just visited the Towelroot site from my phone and downloaded their tool. Takes less than a few minutes.

Usually i am on top of the newer stuff. But what is the point/pro's to putting a ROM on the phone?
