I would like to use the area of the screen inside the red box because I have those dead pixels and replacement screens cost a fortune. Does anyone have a clue on how to do this? When I set lower resolution it simply auto-scales it to fit borders.

In the monitor settings there should be 2 sliders x and y axis. Adjusting those values should either stretch or shrink the used area of the monitor.

Where the heck is that

Best way is to do it from your monitor settings. In the monitor I'm on at work it's call On Screen Display (OSD) and you can change the area of the display.

Not sure off the top of my head, I would have to take a look at all the settings in the control panel and junk. Im up for a TView session if you want me to take a look

Probably can't be done.

One way with Nvidia used to be to set the scaler to not stretch and then set the resolution lower, it doesn't provide an exact map but you can avoid an inch or so around all edges by dropping one resolution.
