I can get a GTX 1070 for the same price and relatively same performance,

From what I've read the 1070 is a better card, just google 980ti vs 1070 for the specifics. If they're almost the same price, I'd go for the 1070.

I've been considering http://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=08G-P4-6288-KR but I never see them on sale. Anyone ever had one of these closed loop cards and how well did it cool with the hybrid?

Red, they cool well from what I've read; between 36-60C depending on geographical location and case airflow.

Haven't owned one myself, but a friend of mine said it was rare for it to go above 50c under load.

I own one and I love it. I think I wish the pump was a bit quiter but overall I've never seen temps about 60 even when benchmarking.
